Denzil D. McKenzie, Attorney

Denzil D. McKenzie is the founder and managing director of McKenzie & Associates, P.C.

Attorney McKenzie began his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He subsequently served as the Associate Grants and Contracts Administrator and Assistant Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs at Boston University. For seven years, Attorney McKenzie was Legal Counsel to B & M Technology Services, Inc., a Cambridge-based engineering research and development company.

Attorney McKenzie now serves as outside counsel to small and mid-sized business corporations and non-profit organizations, engaged in media, technology, health care, human services, and over forty religious congregations. He is a well-recognized advisor and legal counsel to businesses throughout New England, and is often named as a private mediator of commercial disputes. He lectures extensively on corporate law, taxation, and business topics in programs. Recently, he served on the Chapter 180 Task Force of the Boston Bar Association, along with twenty-three other attorneys charged with reviewing and making recommendations to modernize Massachusetts non-profit laws. Attorney McKenzie is also President of McKenzie & Company, an employee benefits consulting firm based in Boston.

Attorney McKenzie received a J.D. degree from Boston University School of Law, where he also studied tax law in the Boston University Graduate Tax Program. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he received a B.A. in Political Science/Economics.

Attorney McKenzie is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American, National and Boston Bar Associations. He is also active on many community boards and voluntary organizations in the Greater Boston area. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the U.S. Small Business Association’s Minority Businessperson of the Year (1986); runner-up for U.S. Department of Defense Minority Supplier of the Year (1986); and the Chancellor’s award for Service to Massachusetts Public Higher Education. In October 2002, Boston Magazine named Attorney McKenzie as one of Boston’s best lawyers. He has been named to the list of Massachusetts Super Lawyers in a special edition of the Boston Magazine, published in November 2004.

Attorney McKenzie is a member of the bars of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the First United States Circuit Court of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.

Attorney McKenzie’s practice includes Business Law, Civil Litigation in all courts and Probate and Estate Planning.
